A semi-quantitative latex agglutination technique is used to screen for fibrin(ogen) degradation products. FDP are elevated in liver disease, in DIC primary or therapeutic fibrinolysis and in hyperglobulinemia (a "false positive" in the latter).

• Sample Required: 0.5 ml frozen plasma x4 or (2) 3.2% sodium citrated tubes, 5 ml each.
