Antibodies to individual HLA antigens are identified using flow cytometry and beads coated with recombinant or soluble HLA antigens from a single allele. The purposes of this test are 1) to determine antibody specificities in patients awaiting transplantation, 2) to determine if there are antibodies to HLA antigens of potential donors , 3) to determine the specificities of antibodies produced after transplantation, or 4) to quantify antibodies to HLA antigens in patients who are candidates for antibody-reduction therapies.
