Immunogenetics/HLA LaboratoryHLA Antibody Specificity
If multiple tests are ordered, refer to Profile Descriptions for specimen requirements. Antibodies to individual HLA antigens are identified using flow cytometry and beads coated with recombinant or soluble HLA antigens from a single allele. The purposes of this test are 1) to determine antibody specificities in patients awaiting transplantation, 2) to determine if there are antibodies to HLA antigens of potential donors , 3) to determine the specificities of antibodies produced after transplantation, or 4) to quantify antibodies to HLA antigens in patients who are candidates for antibody-reduction therapies. |
