The Flow Cytometry Laboratory in the research division of the Puget Sound Blood Center provides cell sorting and analysis services for in-house (Puget Sound Blood Center) and outside investigators. The laboratory is equipped with one FACSVantage SE cell sorter and one FACSCalibur cell analyzer (BD Immunocytometry Systems).
The Flow Cytometry Laboratory staff operates the FACSVantage SE cell sorter and is available to assist users operate the FACSCaliber cell analyzer. In addition, the staff provides consultation services regarding the application of flow cytometry experimental design, sample preparation and data analysis.
The Flow Cytometry Laboratory is located in Room 3068 of Benaroya Research Institute (BRI), located at 1201 Ninth Ave, Seattle, WA 98101.
Charges for non-Puget Sound Blood Center or BRI users:
- $100/hour for FACSVantage SE usage
- $50/hour for FACSCalibur usage
The Flow Cytometry Laboratory staff requires the information about the infectious agents, sample sources and sample preparation procedure. The Flow Cytometry Laboratory Biosafety form must be filled before using the instrument.

Reserved use of Flow Cytometers must be canceled no later than 3 hours in advance of the scheduled time. If the reserved time is not canceled by this time, half of the fee for the reserved amount of time will be charged.
Parking is available at the BRI parking lot. The Flow Cytometry Laboratory will reimburse the parking fee if the usage of FACSVantage SE is over 1-hour or the usage of FACSCalibur is over 2-hours.
